Trump Signed a Law Making Animal Cruelty a Federal Crime

American President Donald Trump recently signed The PACT Act (Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture) into law at the White House. The PACT Act made several kinds of animal cruelty a federal felony.

Previously the law only prohibited animal fights and criminalized animal cruelty only if videos about it were created and sold. The PACT Act now prosecutes crushing, burning, drowning, suffocating or impaling animals or sexually exploiting them, with federal felony charges, fines and up to seven years in prison.
