Voting in America

Since I´m 16, I´ll be able to vote in the next election. I´m quite interested in politics, but I don´t know which party I will vote for. It is crucial, though, that young people previously inform them-selves about their right to vote. They should also be up- to- date with the different parties and the current political situation in their home country. Here is my guide to help you vote in the presidential election on November 3rd this year (I hope you don´t mind me leading more towards one side.

First thing to tell you is that Trump really messed- up his nonsensical corona strategy. Actually, at first he had no real strategy, because he didn´t believe in corona. While some other diligent politicians put through corona sanctions or even a nation- wide lockdown, Trump proclaimed that there was no virus at all. After he was tested positive for the virus, he had to start believing in it. He should have acted much earlier and number of cases in the US wouldn´t be that high.

You may have noticed that one of the judges from the Supreme Court, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, a highly regarded woman, died in September. Ginsburg also known as a tireless and resolute champion of justice had cancer and passed away at the age of 87 years. She has been a long term justice and the second woman in the history of the Supreme Court. Although Ginsburg said before her death that no one should replace her till the election for the president is over, Trump nominated Amy Coney Barret as the incoming justice for the Supreme Court. For me as a guide was Trumps nomination good in his point of view but to nominate one of the highest judges should usually bee done after an election is over.

Democrats and republicans are “the” two parties in America and it´s necessary to know what they stand for. The democrats are more liberal and they obviously put their empathies on care and equality for all the people. Trump is a typical republican and they are on the other hand more conservative and they focus on patriotism, purity and loyalty. If I would be an adult living in America I would probably vote for liberals, because we should start to think as one great union at least in one country. I would never vote for Trump I am not able to retrace his beliefs.

It´s very important to vote, but it doesn´t actually matter which party you vote for. Realize the privilege you have and acknowledge your responsibility as a voter.
