Write for Rights 2019 Success: Moses Akatugba | Amnesty USA



Moses Akatugba from Nigeria was sixteen when he was arrested in November 2005 on suspicion of armed robbery. He is said to have stolen around 650 euros and three telephones. Akatugba was tortured and received the death penalty in 2013.

More than 800,000 people took action for him, including during the Write for Rights campaign 2014. In 2015, after almost ten years in prison, he was pardoned and freed.
