For the past 18 years, John Hocevar has led Greenpeace USA’s fight to keep our oceans healthy for future generations. John and his team are working to eliminate single-use plastic, create a global network of ocean sanctuaries, and stop deep sea mining before it starts. They are also working to end human rights abuses and environmental destruction in industrial fisheries. John is a marine biologist and a submarine pilot. His work in Antarctic waters this year will result in 7 new areas being closed to fishing. Before coming to Greenpeace, John was the founder and Executive Director of Students for a Free Tibet.
