What is the future you want to see?
As the Covid-19 pandemic unfolds, it is bewildering to see the world changing so quickly. The crisis has revealed inherent weaknesses in national and global systems that have left everyone more exposed to disease, economic hardship, and abuse. We have all come to understand that we are only as safe as our most vulnerable neighbor.
As we prepare to leave our homes, and take off our masks, what world will we find? History teaches us that things do not go back to normal after global upheaval. Powerful forces take advantage of uncertainty to remake the social compact and create a new normal. With more equality or less; with more violence or less; with more justice or less.
None of these outcomes are inevitable.
It’s time for us to stand together and create the future we want to see.
