A healthy democracy is our best tool for protecting the planet. By electing climate champions to Congress and the White House, we can still prevent the worst impacts of the climate crisis. But what happens when some people are silenced?
People should not have to choose between their health and their right to vote. Elections have consequences. Death should not be one of them. Key reforms such as universal vote-by-mail, extended early in-person voting, and no excuse absentee ballots with prepaid postage must become a permanent feature of our electoral process at local, state, and federal levels.
A healthy democracy is a precondition to a healthy environment and that means we need a fair election for the people, not corporations. Donald Trump’s policies have fueled the climate crisis at every turn. The truth is, rich people like Donald Trump and corporate oil executives will survive the climate crisis.
