Brian Hauss on SLAPPs | Greenpeace USA



“Now more than ever protest is a central tool for making democracies work,” according to American Civil Liberties Union staff attorney Brian Hauss.

Corporations like Energy Transfer Partners and Resolute Forest Products disagree. These companies have filed multi-million dollar lawsuits to silence those who oppose their social and environmental wrongdoings.

This tactic is known as SLAPP, or Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation, and represents a last effort by corporate bullies.
