Jane Fonda Calls on Governments for a Strong Global Ocean Treaty | Greenpeace USA

Actor and activist Jane Fonda addresses government delegates charged with negotiating a new Global Oceans Treaty (also known as BBNJ) that would provide first time biodiversity conservation measures for the nearly half of the planet covered by international waters, and pave the way for a global network of ocean sanctuaries – a measure scientists advise should cover at least 30% of the world oceans by 2030 in order to buffer the worst impacts of climate change and biodiversity loss.

The address occurred at a reception hosted by the High Seas Alliance at the start of the 5th Intergovernmental Conference to negotiate the new treaty.
